Hello, I'm in the process of tidying up a Harrison jubilee lathe. I have been offered a good quality chuck at a reasonable price but will need a thread adaptor for it. The jubilee is 1" 10tpi and the chick is 3/4" 16tpi I've rang round the main manufacturers but as of yet not having much luck, can anyone suggest where I could source one from.
Thanks.

Three possible solutions
1. an adaptor, if you can find one, but it will be an EXsert, not an insert, so will increase the overhang of the chuck
2. if there is enough "meat" around the current thread, then it may be possible for a skilled lathe operator to re-thread it concentrically to give you a proper Jubilee fitting. It's a risk, but I've done it on a couple of chucks (not expensive ones - yet) and they work fine
3. Sell the chuck (because it's currently a popular fitting) and get one which will take a backplate made to fit the Jubilee. Possibly more expensive, but probably the best answer in the long run.

If I owned the chuck I'd go for option 3, if you're only being offered it then I'd probably pass and bite the bullet to get one with an insert (to able to change at a later date if reqd).
