I've also just bought an early Tyme cub , which has a 1 Morse taper/20mmx2m spindle. Seems that they vary.As Chas said above.
Dead easy and much quicker to change speed than on most of these modern mini lathes.
Speeds are 480, 800, 1250 and 2000 rpm.
I have had my Cub for just over a year and have been very happy with it.
Watch out if you buy any bits for the head & tail stocks. The blurb says its a nr 1morse taper, but mine has 2MT on both.
