I had to get another box of biscuits today so i nipped down to D and M and picked up a box of 1000 no 20's . On opening them i found they where loose ( not in a bag ) I thought i had got a dodgy box so called DandM who asked Trend who said they stopped putting them in bags .
Now every time i've not sealed my biscuits back up in the bag they have swollen.
I know its easy to just pop them in a bag when you get them home as i have done but if they have been kicking around various warehouses before they got to the shop wont they have swollen already ?
I cant see why Trend have stopped bagging them only to save a few quid .

I usually use Tansilli ones which come in four bags of 250ea when you buy a box. The last ones I got were Lamello's and they also come loose in the box (always have from memory)and are a tighter fit in my slots. Will find another source for the Tansilli's now Axminster only do the Lamello's.

I only bought the trend ones because i needed them right away , i wish id bought a box of 100 and tried another source .

Jason , have you tried the toothed bikkies ? they look good for times when you have to do glue up in a furnished and carpeted room , no glue .

I quite often leave the bickies dry when assembling on site and use carcase or pocket screws to hold it together as clamping up takes too long. Not sure how well the toothed ones would work in chipboard but probably OK in MDF.

PS haven't you heard of dust sheets or DROP sheets as they call them in the US

There's a place called Projoin in Dover who do some brilliant KD fittings which use biscuit slots - no web site, but Knapp Verbinder is the site to look at. A word of warning, though - they ain't cheap..... Some interesting fittings for cornices and the like, too, as well as fixings for wooden treads omn concrete stairs, KD dowels and D connectors for timber frame buildings such as conservatories

I keep my biscuits in some old coffee jars (one for each size) where the lid is screwed to the underside of a shelf. To absorb moisture inside the jar just throw in a tablespoon of rice - works a treat. B&Q also sell Trend baggits which are sold in a placy bag - Rob

My biscuits are always in an old biscuit tin (excuse the pun) I keep them in there with a bag of silica jel and tape up the lid until I need them. so far they work a treat.

I got a free box of 1000 biscuits off Makita when I bought their machine, since then I have left the box open. My workshop hover around the 50% humidity mark, will this cause the biscuits to swell?

Thanks

Yes, eventually. You'll know they've swelled when they won't go into the groove :?

isn't the advice to put them in the oven after swmbo has
done the sunday roast?? rather like making meringues
a couple of hours as it cools down, will get the moisture out.

mine are in an oval biscuit tin
