Hi,
I have recently started to try a bit of box making (scroll/band saw) and have been collecting any bits of decent hardwoods i can find to butcher.
My wife recently found me a 12" square hardwood box in tatty condition and an ideal item to butcher and have a go at scrolling.... my local farmer called by this morning and noticed my workshop doors were open so he asked what i was upto.
I told him that i was going to make a nice wee box with tiny drawers in etc and he stood there looking puzzled and shook his head and replied " For Gods Sake why would you want to buy a wooden box to chop up to make a wooden box?" "Why don't you just keep the original box? " and walked off still shaking his head LOL I'm stood there with my bits of chopped up box planning on making another box........... wonder if one day someone will find my box and do the same thing? no wonder my wife thinks I'm going barmy, i blame it on the glues i use in the shop lol.
It does get you thinking to why am i doing this? oh well suppose one of you guys can tell me why we need to "Make Things"?
Cheers
Brian
