I'm not very good with computers...

IF I was to download a torrent programme like Bitlord, is there a possibility of me getting a virus? And does anyone use them?

Thanks,
Mark

Torrents can be full of nasties but if you have a good anti-virus program, you should be OK. Best thing to do is if you have an old machine that you can dedicate to downloads, that way you can quarantine things untill you have checked they are OK.

I use AVG anti virus free edition, on my only computer (a 5 year old piece of cr@p which is long overdue for a replacement)

Don't see the point in torrents when u can download from a file hosting site through a proxy

I'd reccomend uTorrent for simplicity and reliability. You ought to have a firewall as well as your antivirus, such as Comodo. Both are free.

Whenever you download a file of any type from any source you should run a manual virus scan before you open/extract/run the file. You will probably be able to do that from the context menu, i.e. right click on the file in windows explorer and select 'scan'.
