I was sharpening a bowl gouge on my Tormek yesterday when the wheel stopped turning. It appears that the nut that holds the wheel onto the spindle had worked loose?

Once I tightened up everything seemed fine

Has this happened to anyone else? Am I doing something wrong?

I've had the Tormek for over a year and used it most weekends and this is the first time this has happened.

Yes has happened to me! Look in the instruction book on how to tighten nut. Essentially you have to tighten the nut with a spanner and a whack of a hammer. Sounds severe but does the job.

Thanks Gidon I'll give it a go - nice to know that whacking a spanner with a hammer is still an industry recognised technique - I haven't had to do that since I had a job of releasing wheel nuts in the Garage!
