I’m looking to get all my hand tools up on displace so I can finally see where everything is, can you all give me ideas of racking and shelves that make the most of the small workshop wall space.

A lot of what you’re asking is dependent upon the size of the wall(s) you can use . Generally racking/ shelving will reduce the amount of floor space you have for your machines and your working space. My converted bedroom already had a shelf unit long before i converted it into a small shop . That said I had boxes of hand tools stored away and was actually buying tools that i already had . So I put them on my living room floor in groups- chisels and other cutting tools, screwdrivers, marking and measuring, drilling, spanner’s etc and arranged them in tight groups . I couldn’t afford expensive storage solutions so I went with magnetic bars , screw in hooks , and even good old panel pins . I made a rack down the centre of the ceiling for various extraction hoses. It became a little obsessive to use every inch of available space so I can literally scan the walls to find what I need , and also spot anything that’s missing. I’ll add some picks to give you a better idea of what I mean .the walls were lined with plywood off cuts that I got for free. The empty spaces are where I’m doing a few alterations to improve the layout.

Rack down centre of ceiling running diagonally, and doors fitted to shelving unit , even the protruding end of the wall didn’t escape, the doors at the bottom of the shelving unit also give me somewhere else to store tools , this was all done for under £60 the magnetic bars were the biggest cost .

How do you find controlling the dust throughout the house. The reason I ask that’s a idea I have it’s to use a spare room

I have a cabinet 4ft wide by 3ft tall on the wall be hind the bench. Doors open outwards to give me an effective tool wall 8ft long
All power tools stored under sharpening bench/cabinet
Havent fully sorted clamp storage
Wood I just have too much

Reminded of this by the book that @TheTiddles was selling, I would recommend watching it for inspiration on compact hand tool storage ;)

Use dust extraction where practical and get yourself a decent dust filter ceiling mounted-set it to run for an hour or so after your planed work . Keep as many doors closed between your shop and rest of the house. I only use my b/ saw and router table in my shop . Planer / t/ saw and any significant amount of sanding are done outside as these machines are portable and 110 v . In short I do as much as possible outside and then any assembly work , gluing up , setting out etc inside. Tbh the battle with dust will always be a pain but fortunately I live alone so it’s me that has to do the cleaning- this is my fine dust filter ( rutlands)
