Guys,

I've built myself a wall hung tool cabinet with two front opening doors, which are side hung. The construction of the cabinet is just a large sealed box with the front 75mm of the case cut off to create the doors. I was in the process of hanging it on the wall this morning when I realised it was a tad to heavy so I took the doors off to lighten the lift.

Anyway, when I reinstalled the doors after hanging the cabinet on the wall I found that the base of the door where it hits the frame springs out but about 6mm. It was hanging perfectly prior to me removing the doors. I have fiddled about with the hinge a little moving it back and forth but only seem to make it worse.

The doors are 41" x 18"

Any ideas how it bring it back in line?

Maybe your cabinet fixing have put a twist in it ? Is the face dead plumb ? You could try loosening the top right hand fixing and insert a wedge between the wall and cab with the doors still on ,easing the wedge in slowly until the doors line up. dont forget to tighten the fixings up once you have it all lined up tidy.

Hope this helps Bern

Thanks for your response Bern, I'll give it a go,. Now that you have pointed that out I recall a similar issue where a door was not fitting properly. It doesn't take the base structure, in this case the wall it to be out by much for the problem to exist.

Thanks again.

Yes, will definitely be the cabinet not hanging plumb on the wall, it will be slightly twisted for sure.

Nice cabinet BTW, what are you doing for the internals?

Cheers, Mark

Ok, having tried it again it is indeed about 6mm off plumb, I.e. Needs to come out at the base by the 6mm if that make sense. Should it then shim the back of the cabinet at the base ?

Not sure yet on internals, hav'n't got that far

Cheers

Use a bubble level on top and a plumb on one of the side corners, and go on shimming and by and by tightening until the cabinet is perfectly vertical.
