I walked away from a perfect condition S&J Spearior 88 hand saw this morning; blade was covered in old grease, no rust I could see.

But I have enough saws...

Is this how it ends?

You'll keep going, though, won't you? There's always the hope that a mint and boxed Norris jointer might crop up one morning for a fiver.....

It is. You will still go on benders for certain things of interest, but buying things just because you see them and they're a good deal...those days are over for you.

Or a Hetchins bike, or some Holcroft cookware, or a Henckels knife, or a Gitzo tripod...

I'm not sure whether to congratulate or not. On the one hand, eminent restraint! On the other, it was a near-mint Spearior 88... for the love of God man why didn't you let it follow you home?!

I don't know anything about the others but about the knife, nothing worth holding your breath for I can promise you.

On a similar note I have been into several climbing shops lately and left without buying any nice shiny things. Which is a disturbing sign of how much I've spent in the past!
