Just completed a trike for my grandson.
Thought there may be interest in its construction.
Glued up three panels for base.
Mortising slots to take rear wheel supports
Shaping base on band saw. Edge then finished using router and round over cutter.
Front forks constructed from three glued lengths of stock.
Then turned to form top section, pre drilled to take handlebar.
Completed fork assembly. Turning centre on top of assembly removed later.
Wheels turned and then centre bored on lathe
Wheels secured to axle using turned plugs glued into centre bored axle. The axle is glued to the wheel supports to provide lateral strength.
Completed Trike, finished using Chestnut Melamine and wax polish.
Now ready for Grandson's Birthday!
