Very nice as usual.
Shows what normally happens when you leave the centre of the log in. That's a comment not a criticism. :)

Indeed, i just love the Birch centre colours, i knew the split would happen, after much microwaving and steam i filled the gap with coffee and CA, makes a nice change to turning Olive....

Not sure I'm into bright colours but that's just personal preference. Leaving the centre in the log gives me lots of ideas for some maple I have which is not really big enough (diameter) to use normally. I've tried just splitting a log and turning with half the centre in with no great success but leaving 2/3 or more in as Adam did and accepting the cracks as a feature looks good. Nice shape.

Well I like it, but that colour is a statement for sure. How did you get the blue / purple effect, is it just the way the dye sinks into the growth rings?

Bit bright for me. But what is good is to see what other woods can look like with colour on them.
All you seem to see on Youtube is coloured Ash or Sycamore.
I've just done coloured London Plane, which I'm still un-decided about.

I have a local potter to compete with colour wise LOL.... I'm still experimenting with making cheap paint look ok, this particular piece was first painted with a mixture of water based wood sealer mixed with a blob of blue acrylic paint, allowed to dry, sanded and then repeated with a magenta, the 'glaze' is just a standard satin varnish....TBH the colour looks brighter in the pik due to direct sunshine (we have lots of that stuff here 😂)
