Timber Framing Book?

I'm looking at doing a green oak pergola for the garden. I see a lot of people recommending this book:

But as it's £70, it's a bit steep. Anyone got any other suggestions?

It is a bit of a sledge hammer to crack a nut. It is a great book on timber framed houses but...

Yeah, I suspect that'll be the case, but I reckon it'll be interesting anyways. I read a lot so it's no big deal, just another book to plough through.

This one is well worth a look, It is not as glossy as the Rupert Newman book, all black and white pictures and line drawings, but has a lot more detail of construction techniques.

PAC - Yeah, you were right, bit overkill for what I want (not going to be building a timber framed house any time soon). Great book tho, interesting read.
