Just watched the newly restored Vulcan flying over Rutland on it's first flight since restoration - what a wonderful sight over beautiful countryside in warm autumn sunshine - fair made my eyes water......

I didn't see it in their latest catalogue...............<gr>

Got me good and choked up when I heard she was really going to fly again - can't wait to see some pictures!

I remember going to see a Vulcan makes it's final
landing at Sunderland's Usworth Airport, it was a
great sight. It is housed in Sunderland's Aircraft Museum.
The airport closed soon after for Nissan to build their
car plant.

Fabulous news.

Is there a website anywhere that lists when/where it will be flying?

Copied from another Forum -

... a NOTAM has been issued for a BBMF flypast of Bruntingthorpe at 10am on October 26th so I think one can make a very reasonable guess at when the "top secret" press-only launch flight will be!

So next Friday looks like a start if you are up that way.

Thought of something...when I was at work in the early 70's the chargehand in the department I was in had flown in Vulcans a few years previously in the RAF. He always had a sort of lop sided gait to the way he walked and his back was slightly crooked. When we were chatting over a brew one day at T break, he explained why...apparently when the aircraft he was flying in was just about to land, in other words the aeroplane was at zero feet, he had to eject  Result was that the 'chute opened but he couldn't jettison the seat in time so he hit the ground still attached to it, which probably explains the reason why he walked strangley.
However he was always immaculately turned out at work as he got some fairly respectable compensation  - Rob

I was brought up in Woodford, Cheshire where Vulcans were built in the 1960's. So to me they are an everyday sight. It was only when I read this thread that I realised I'd not seen one in 35 years!

God, it makes you feel old!
