Thomas Robinson table saw Rebuild

I just recently finished rebuilding this model ET/E Thomas Robinson table saw. 7.5 HP, 18" blade, weighs 2300Lbs

I made new shafts for the rise and fall handles, and was just playing around with an offcut of the precision ground shafting. I also made new collars and bushings, and and new washers etc.

Robinson machines were IMO the best machines money could buy. Far superior to Wadkin.

Thanks. I have a few Robinson, and a few Wadkin machines. Robinson are my favorite. The Bandsaw is awe inspiring.

Cleaned and gun blued most of the nuts, bolts and washers.

A professional job from start to finish. Do you paint / metal work for a living?

I started off doing woodwork / furniture for the first 30 years, bought old machines and fixed them up for myself to use, but the past 20 years I have been rebuilding machines for a living.

There were a few parts missing as is normal on old machines. The riving knife bracket was missing, I took the a part from another Robinson saw, but had to make the knife holder.

The rip fence was not very flat, so I started out with a disk grinder and straightedge, got it fairly close then switched to hand scraping and surface plate. It took a long time but I got it pretty flat and consistent.

Wow! That’s amazing, just dealing with something of that mass is hard work, and then the attention to detail on top is incredible.
