I'm aware I've been a bit quiet over the last couple of months, mainly due to other stuff going on. One of these things is the new blog that Claire and I have launched called The things we make.

http://thingswemake.wordpress.com/

I'll warn you now its not purely woodworking, its more of a lifestyle blog focussing on (yes, you guessed it) the things we make. It will be a combination of furniture, food, photography, gardens and other creative stuff. Its more focussed on the overall package rather than the fine detail of how any one particular bit is done.

It is partly spurred on by the emerging possiblity of redundancy and wanting to get my stall set out to start doing some furniture commissions as an element of my income. You can see my 'portfolio' of furniture items by clicking through to Flickr from the gallery if you're interested.

Any comments welcome, or just drop by to see what we're doing from time to time.

Cheers, Ed

Looks good Ed. Bookmarked.

Only this morning I wondered why you weren't posting so much. Good luck with everything.

It does look to be very well laid out, Ed - if you edit your Profile, you could even add the link to your signature, for others to see. I do like your dog, Ernie, as well. Reminds me of our porky little jack russell/bored terrier cross... Or, as she was ten years ago! :D Ours was also eight months old when we rescued her. :)

There's some lovely stuff there Ed, excellent quality photography too. That bread looks lovely!

Ed.

That looks great, well put together. The only thing is i`m going to have to make some toast now as its made me feel hungry, oh for a wife who baked like me mother. :D

I can testify that the bread is delicious, in fact its not that long since I ate some :D

Very nice Ed, I did wonder what you were up to. Hopefully if there is to be redundancy it will be on your terms - and then prepare to embrace MDF construction like Mr Naylor :D

Well I think we all have slightly different approaches and styles we want to work in, but the work Duncan and others have posted has certainly been inspiring to me in thinking about the types of things that are commercially viable and for which there is a ready market.

I am hoping to ease myself into something whilst still working at the day job - fingers crossed anyway

nice blog ed - i'm defintely going to be making a marmalade tea loaf this weekend , the boot rack may take a little longer ;)

Thanks for all the positive comments guys.

I'm trying to update fairly regularly, although it's only when you start doing a blog that you realise how difficult it is to have something intersting to say on a regular basis. Made slightly easier by the fact that there are 2 of us contributing.

Anyway, hope people continue to drop in to have a look from time to time, the initial response from this site was amazing.

Cheers, Ed
