The Parkside pillar drill is it worth having?

I am looking for a bench top pillar drill that will drill through 2.5 inch timber any suggestions?

The Aldi/Lidl pillar drills seem OK to me - I've certainly drilled through that thickness with mine (obviously stopping and removing drill from the workpiece to clear the shavings fairly frequently) - in fact I just remembered that I drilled through a 4" block of wood the other day with a 1" bit .... for a base for a Christma decoration my wife ws making.

I had a diddy Nutool bench drill press. Didn't drill that depth but certainly drilled 42mm holes with a forstner bit into all kinds of hardwood for up to 30mm.

Problem with most small drill presses are that the travel is only 50mm or so.
