The last thing I made is actually the first one of these I've attempted so quite pleased.Took a bit to much out the top but happy with my first attempt. Should look better with some sealant and polish.

Wanted this in the topic ,photo of the last thing I made but don't know how to put it there?

Looking good for first one pops92 just set up my BS350 today not cutting as straight as I would like so tried to call Tuffsaws and left a message asking them to call back re advice on blades. Did you use a 1/4" blade?

seal it with wipe on polyeurethane clear gloss, cut with 25% white spirit, and wiped on with a either paper towel or a lint free piece of rag. 2 coats 48 hours apart comes up shiny and very pretty.
Biggest cause of wonky bandsaw cuts is going too fast through the wood. Dont force the blade, let it do its own thing.

No used 3/16" 10tpi tuffsaws think I could of done with 14tpi left it quite rough on the radius.Takes a bit of practise to get it running nicely round the the radius.
I used the flutter test to set the blade up as the tention indicator was no were near.
Have you tried that with the blade you are having problems with?

I'm very surprised that 10 TPI did not give you a smooth cut, it should leave something that needs just a tickle with sandpaper. 14 TPI would cut very slowly indeed in something as thick as that.

Very nice-looking box, especially for a first attempt, you should be smirking, for sure.

I discovered that almost all of my rage about that blade was self inflicted. I had fallen into complacency and finally realised I was trying to go faster all the time.

Still using that blade, but now pushing at half the pressure I was.

My sister is here and has just cut her first bandsaw box with the same blade. It was interesting watching a "newbie" make all the mistakes I used to make. She had trouble with a tight bend because she didnt understand how much pressure was needed to get a really tight turn.
Rough curves are just a matter of practice. As your eye gets more experienced your hand movements become smoother.

If that's first attempt it's excellent
Looks like beech
I agree with Steve you are going the wrong way with tpi for thick wood, not that I have ever made a bs box but for wood that thick I would have used a 3 tpi

Hi pops92 Have not tried the flutter test yet will look it up. My older bandsaw the metabo swift cuts fine and straight set up via the Alex Snodgrass method but doing the same to the new Record BS350 the blade is not running so straight but maybe the blade supplied is not so good find it harder to see the guides on the Record too there seems to be a lot in the way especially on the lower guides compared with the Metabo. I have tried contacting Tuffsaws to get advice on which blades to buy for both machines with the intention of buying what I am advised but am stuck at this point until they phone back. My ultimate aim is to do bandsaw boxes on the smaller Metabo swift and resaw the backs of the boxes on the Record and use the record for tenon joints and resaw boards/logs for my scrollsaw and other projects.

That's a really great first attempt. Far better than many would do and better than the first one I made. Well done. It can only get better from here in, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work on the forum.

Thanks guys for your positive feedback on the box, still waiting for the liberon sanding sealer I've orderd to finish it.
Met up Lurker yesterday now got some bits of hardwood from him to get me going, very nice guy and very helpfull.
Today cut this from some laminated pine used 3/16" 10tpi really took ages to cut,so slow. But got all the cuts square after taking extra care on the set.
Think I will get a 3/16" & 1/4" 6 or 4 tpi tuffsaws.
Not as nice as a good piece of hardwood to play with but good for the learning curve.
