It touched down on Tuesday and Mark popped round today to help me put it all together.

...after I filled the skip up with all the packaging....

...and a bit of tinkering. We ended up with this:

:D

We ran out of time at the end of the day, so there is still a bit to do. The outfeed table needs to be fitted and then it all needs a final check for accuracy. We did manage to fire her up for one cut ;) We spent quite some time on the sliding table arrangement. It was a real faff, I'm glad Mark was here because I'd have kicked it a few times :D

I'll be mostly fiddling this weekend then. :D

Looks a very nice piece of kit :D

Hope you've got some good projects lined up to test it out!

Nice catch WiZer. I'm sure it'll give good service.

Cheers

That looks a serious bit of kit, but the orange of the Triton is still a better colour :D
Enjoy

Hell! You managed to get THAT in your Smart??
Philly
I reckon he had it on his roof-rack, thats why the wing fell off :D

Make sure you don't reverse into the garage too far, that big saw could cut the little car in half

Smart Car?? I thought that was the trailer he hauled it in on??How is that going to fit in the garage??Wahooo you guys over there sure have cramped areas....

Nice one! You'll want to move the nvr switch to the right or you'll quickly find you can't reach it when the sliding table is right forward.

Oh and your fence needs moving to the front before you go to the trouble of setting it square otherwise you`ll only be able to crosscut one foot wide boards.

You said recently that you thought the Record Power TS200 has similar problems with its sliding beam - how do you think this compares?

I'm jealous that you have to space (and budget!) for something like this, I hope it brings you many years of great service! :D

...Did you get all the work done on your workshop before the saw arrived? :?

Dom,
Why? If the table is right forward then so is the operator, surely? It looks fine where it is to me, unless I'm missing something.

Why is your smart car missing a rear quarter?

Some a*sehole carreared into me and drove off while I was parked. No insurance or evidence left. Annoyingly, as it's an occaisional use car, it's onlt TPFT.

Come Come my colonial cousin, garages are not for cars!

I said that to Mark, he insisted I was wrong, there was blood... but he won :(

You've lost me there, to the front of what?

Space years in difference. The actualy mechanism of the sliding table is quite clever and it glides extremely smooth and with purpose. The record was far from smooth, more like lumpy and the setup was less than genius, I could imaging that getting gummed up with saw dust v.quickly. The problem with setting up the Jet was that, we thought, the sliding table was every so slightly (and I mean slightly) twisted. It made the front or back ride up just a fraction, but Mark being the ever critical engineer and me wanting my new baby to be absolutely perfect, we spent a long time coming to a happy medium. I don't think it was anything like severe enough to consider sending back. We shall see when I further set it up for square and trueness.

I'd have the switch where it is on the left.

much easier to get to IMHO

nice saw Wizer :)

That's not a Smart car, that's the TARDIS if he got that lot in it! Beautiful saw mate, I know you will both be very happy together.
