This used to be an old chair seat, no idea what wood it is.

When it 'let go' it was spinning flat out. My neighbour heard the bang and came round to see if I was ok.

Luckily, I was working on the face and standing to one side, suffering nothing more than a raised heartbeat and slightly soiled underwear.

Anyhow, I liked the grain so much that I decided to salvage it.

Hit it with 80 grit all over and stitched it back together. Splash of BLO and it's 'art' :-D

... and a big shout out for hot-glue mounting, it never budged.

You trendsetter you. There'll be people using jigsaws on perfectly sound bits of work to replicate your mind blowing conceptual artwork on Etsy within a week. A television series within a month. There'll be hipster idiots dying all over the country from shrapnel in 2 months as they buy lathes and unsound bits of timber for their first turning 'revelation'. For that last part alone you deserve a reward.
I quite like it actually. I'll start the bidding at 300 grand. :D

If only I had some green and grey paint ... It'd be worth 5 times what you're offering.

Elm has a lovely colour and grain and even better with a few high lights

I didn't know it was Elm, cheers for that. (Being a chair seat, it was a strong contender, but I'm never sure).

Glad you're OK Naz - that could have been nasty!

Also pleased you didn't send it out the window like a Frisbee and made something really cool instead!

:D
