A couple of weeks ago I asked for help with using
a hand plane.
I followed up the great advise and sources quoted and can now say that
I am well on the road to get the plane to do what I want it to do.
I spent the weekend working on the chip breaker, iron, cap iron, frog and sole as shown in DC's book "Furniture-Making Techniques".
It was a long process but I think it was/will be well worth the effort.
I also got the Vertias II camber roller and now have a sharp curved blade.
(thanks Philly and Alf for the review)
I would strongly advise beginners, like me, to have a look at DC's books and DVD on plane preparation. I think the methodical approach really benefits beginners.
Thanks to all on this forum for the help!
