Still trying to get the 'woodshack' watertight in
Hi all

Not sure if this is in the correct section (if not I'm sure the mods will be on it pronto!) but just a big thank you to all who advised me before Crimbo on a decent drill driver for around the £150 mark.

Decided to go with the majority and went for a trusty Makita MXT:

http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=100372&ts=80301&id=53799

Opted for the driil driver rather than the combi as it came with 3 x 2.6ah batteries (the combi having 2 x 3ah) and if I want hammer power I'll use my ancient B&D (30 odd years old and still going strong - touch wood  ).

Screwfix have just opened a trade counter in Peterborough and last weekend had a 10% off promo, so took advantage and picked one up for £170.
Not had much time to try it properly yet except for testing with a 1" forstner bit through 25mm MDF. Needless to say, it posed no problems.

Foolishly I fell into a habit that I have had with cheaper drills. I used to hold the chuck with my left hand and hit the trigger to tighten it. I absent mindedly did the same with the MXT. #-o Silly, silly boy. Nearly took the skin off and wrenched my arm. (Me walking out of the workshop squinting in pain and rubbing my wrist raised a few eyebrows too!!) Lovely blisters for 2 days. Seriously, don't try this at home kids. I sure won't again.

Anyways, thanks again for all your help and anyone else on the market for a drill, invest in one - you won't go wrong.

Ta muchly

Gary
