I have a Multico TM tenoner and have been using some hardwood of late.
I noticed a small gap on the outside of the mortises when the joints are pulled up so decided to measure them to see what was what.
The outside of the tenon is 0.5 mm smaller than the shoulder end - do you good folk think this is ok?
It will make assembly easier but on hardwood it’s just a bit more visible.
I checked the heads and the top one is the culprit as it measures slightly out, there are no signs of wear so should I just forget about it.

If it is the top one only, it could be the pillar that carries the head is out.

I had this problem on my old one, slacken off the bolts which hold the pillar the frame and then put a shim in at the bottom or top of the column where it sits on the frame depending which way you want it to go.

It is a bit of a trial and error fix but it worked for me.

These machines were designed for bolted in cutters which you could adjust to compensate for a slight run out, once you put modern blocks in any error will show up.

My current TM may have had this fix done to it, but as it was correct when I got it, I left it alone.

After you've pushed the wood through, once it's formed the tenon do you move it back over the cutters and then withdraw or withdraw it straight after the tenon is formed. I also found if i pull the wood back over the cutters it'll cut more off after the tenon has moved a little. Taking multiple cuts also has the same effect.
