Since it is getting a bit chilly here in Czech (-5), and since I am off work for a couple of weeks, I have been doing some decorating and some moving things around. The upshot of this is that I am moving some of my workshop indoors, so that my motorcycles can stay in the relative (+7 degrees) warmth of the workshop over the winter. My workbench is now inside, and I have the interesting time of bringing inside just the tools that I use most often. I am thinking that after a few projects, I will have enough of an idea which tools I use often, that I can build a tool box/chest/standalone cupboard or something similar so that I can move the workshop around more easily in the future.
It's going to be interesting :)

This is my rack of hand tools, it’s not all that often I need anything else.
The last one is the start of a new one after I arrived here in the States.

It is surprising how few tools most of us actually need, I think when you have been woodworking for a good few years you realise what you actually use and just stick with your core tools.

Funnily enough I watched a video a few days ago about such things. It's a youtuber who has the usual display cabinets behind him showing off his large collection of planes and chisels etc, the point of the video is he picks out the tools he actually uses and it's basically the same as @Cabinetman has in his little rack.

Yes, I’ve always maintained that this doesn’t need to be an expensive hobby at all.
Just thinking what else I use on a fairly regular basis, larger square, drill and bits, and a hardpoint second fit handsaw spring to mind.

Back in the early 60s my dad built a lovely 14ft sailing dinghy with a minimal amount of woodworking tools.
One Stanley no4 plane, tenon and panel saws, combination square, one chisel, ballpein hammers, and screwdrivers. That was about it apart from one ‘machine’ an electric drill.
Interesting to note that I still have, and use, all of the tools apart from the plane (which my son now has),the chisel, which has disappeared, and the electric drill.

Well, the bench is in, the space is eight and a half feet wide, by nine feet deep, so a little bit smaller than the usual workshop. The current 'minimum toolkit' is also shown. I will also bring in some chisels as well, finish sharpening the saw, and then start making some stuff (storage boxes for the tools will probably be the first order of business).
The cupboards are empty, they are just there to give me something to put stuff on. They may get used for something else later on.
