Hello
For a while I've been using a non tapered plug cutter in my cordless drill with good success. Recently I ordered a tapered plug cutter with the hope of also using it in my cordless.
Not so good, the bit doesn't throw me round like a rag doll, but the plugs 'snap' before the cutter bottoms out. This results in a plug which isn't long enough to be of any use. I know the problem is any slight lateral movement causes the plug to 'snap' early.
Unfortunately I don't have a pillar drill so is there any alternative methods to using a tapered cutter? Also, my cordless drill won't fit in any of the drilling stands that are available. I was looking around to see if there was a router based alternative (I have an old 1/4" Elu) but I guess even the lowest speed is still too fast.
