On my previous lathe you locked the tailstock by moving the lever downwards towards the horizontal. I've bought a bigger /better one from a different manufacturer and to lock the tailstock you lift the handle towards the vertical. It locks at about 2 o'clock. Is this common?
It makes sliding the tailstock easier as the lock is "off": but if the locked lever is knocked or the lathe vibrates, the lever could move under it's own weight. So losing the tailstock pressure!?
