Hi guys

need your help here please , right guys its been a long time since i bought a table saw last one i bought was back in the eighties a Triton work centre which will go for sale in mid Feb. So that leaves me wondering just what type of saw to replace the Triton with .

the last lot of machinery i work with was back the dockyard before it closure in 1996 all 3 phase , don't want that type any way they were monster machine , since those day they have change considerably in shape and design and down to single phase as well so thought i better ask you guys to point me in the right direction with name etc . i don't want to spend a fortune on one, sort of middle of the road prices don't even mind if it a used one just as long it's a quality one and will last and do the things i want it to ,things like .

1. blade height adjustment
2. bevel cut
3. wobbly saw attachment
4. 10" or 12" blade dia
5. i think also a steel top ?
6. not sure about full length guard? more like an adjustable one in length
7. need to able to build an out feed table top myself and be able to attach it to the saw
8. dust extraction.
9. not to noisy. (neighbours)
10 possible a sliding table as well
11. oh yes and be able to rip 8'*4" down the middle
12 and gross cut a 8'*4' across the middle

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

Martin, there are lots of recent threads on choice of table saws. The Axminster 10" table sawsounds like it would fit the bill though. By the way, My Triton WC2000 with Maxi extension table, will do just about everything on your list, except quiet. It is a noisy beast as the saw has a universal (brush) motor but most of the noise comes from the wood going over the blade so any saw will create noise.

Martin,
except for the wobble saw attachment the Axminster TS covers just about everything you want.
A good TS in its own right for the price, but a few changes make it a great saw, notably the blade...... buy a good blade, freud same the be a good choice.
The mitre gauge reasonable but change it for an upmarket one like an Osborne or Incra and you`ll have all the accuracy you need..

Use the search facility and search for Axminster TS, there are plenty of comments and a couple of reviews by members.
