I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I was building a wheel kit for my table saw. Well it's now finished. I started with the desk and finished with the wheel kit. I got the wheels and desk free from work. I just had to buy the bolts (which cost more than I thought they would). It didn't work out much cheaper than the axminster wheel kit (due to buying bolts from B&Q) but it had 4 swivelling wheels (which I really needed). I can't weld so the whole thing needed to make use of the existing welds in the desk. I hope to improve some time in the future to have a couple of drop down feet but for now the lockable wheels will do.

very clever...

i have the same sort of set up with my router table RYobi RT6000...but i used ply with 4 locking castors.
i have a very small workshop and space is at a premium so i needed to be able to wheel the table out the way when not in use....

That tablesaw give me an idea....... 8)

tenpin, this was version three of the wheel kit. The first two involved using simple brackets. The first made the saw too high, the second wasn't strong enough.

Waka, the saw was wheeled out of the way tonight and I started clearing an area so that I can finish the flooring. After that I'll put some insulation in the roof so that it is out of the way. Then I hope to make some cabinets (on wheels again) to store stuff away a little more tidily.

Can't say I enjoyed working with metal but it was the best material for the job. I'm considering nabbing another desk and converting it into a router table.

I noticed that the saw is a SIP Dave, (I'm clever like that!)
The biggest problem I had with mine was the fact that the wings are on both left and right and there was no way I could cut an 8X4 sheet down the middles 'cos the fence would not move far enough from the blade. Eventually I put both wings on the one side,
Problem solved.

I think that is a much much bette wheel kit then you could ever buy from axminster

that one is rock sollid, and with nice big wheels, much better then the small ones in the axminster kit

Great job 8)

That looks great Dave,

I recently bought one of the Axminster ones and while it works okay, I'm sure yours is much much stronger.

Might make my own next time.

Nice work. That's the biggest downside of most of the mobile base kits for me, the fact that you cannot easily spin them around. :)
