Near Looe, Cornwall.
No finish applied as yet.
Quite an interesting project, no visible power cable going to the lamp holder.
The legs all look solid walnut, it tested me doing the glue up as the electrics had to be routed through the wood before the glue up.

:D

Here's another I did earlier

Made totally from scrap offcuts of American black walnut & beech, not quite finished just the lamp holder & wiring to do

The lower part has four pieces on the two faces that are in view, in all it took seven pieces to make up a hollow box section. The top shorter part was done in two pieces with the centre routered out before I stuck them together.

The beech part was all one piece, with a tennon top and bottom, then a mortice was cut all the way though it, like in this pic

It was all glued together except the base wasn't fitted then it was passed over my planer on two faces before sizing it through my thicknesser. The top beech cap was fitted the same way but I have to drill it to fit a brass pipe to carry the lamp holder. When I've got the bits I'll post a pic of it finished.

It's going in this room but I'm only testing it, SWMBO will decide where it goes :)

PS.... EDIT... The Yucca(?) in the corner would anyone like it for free? you will have to collect it though :(

What's the dimensions of the small one on show, nicely put together but for me a bit to chunky.

Now I do like the standard lamp, that is really impressive.

The top and bottom are 7 1/2" square 7/8" thick.

The legs are 3/4" x 3/4"

The overall height not counting the brass pipe and bulb holder is 14"

I should finish it tomorrow so I'll take another pic. :)

Very nice. The scale of the top lamp was very deceiving - I thought it was a lot bigger. I'm intrigued as to how the wired is routed?

Cheers, Ted

Those are very cool. What's the finish on the floor standing lamp? I like that

One coat cellulose sanding sealer, cut back with 000 wire wool. Two coats of danish oil, cut back with 0000 wool, then a coat of paste wax.

The table lamp as in the pic has only two coats of danish oil, couldn't be pineappled to do the sealer, I might do another coat of danish then a coat of wax. :)
