Hi everyone,

As a relative newbie, I like many others before me have come to conclusion that I need a table saw.

However as I only have a single car garage as a workspace, and it needs to house a car at times I dont have the space to go down the fixed table saw / bandsaw route - so I am looking at the various bench saws available.

Budget will be in the £500 / 600 range so I am looking at the Bosch, DeWalt, Makita offerings as I figure, buy something decent that will do the job for a while.

Does anyone have any experience with these, good or bad ??

p.s. - I have already looked through the previous table saw advice....

hi K, welcome to the forum, or what about the kity 419 its not as big as some but accurate, solid and very well made, i find mine brilliant

my advice is to buy a (new or used) triton workcentre either mk3 or 2000 accurate compact and versatile.

welcome, as someone who has both a dewalt 744 and a mafell rail system saw. i would point out that even my dewalt takes up a space of about 800 x 800 mm allowing for the extendable rails. and it is quite heavy, although still transportable.

it's a good saw, and works well, but there are many reasons for considering one or other of the three well known saw and rail systems

Mafell KS or KSP which offers a cross cut capacity of up to 400 mm with the rail system.

Festo which has a very good reputation

and the EZ system which many members have.

all have their fans and their good points, not least that you can make a sensible knock down cutting table which you could also use as an assembly table.this could be hinged against the side of the garage and give you all you need. you also end up with a circular saw that you can use elsewhere.

personal take as they all are, but it is worth consideration.

remember bench saw take up a big footprint . :?

paul
