t-track cutter or laminate?

I'm going to make a small drill press table. It's only something cheap so didn't want to buy t-track
for it.

Is it better to use a t-track cutter in a router, or cut a dado and laminate a board over the top with narrower dado?

If cost is the main consideration, I would do it with straight cutters. If you are buying a t track cutter you may as well buy the t track.

T track cutters are slow because of the shape you have to cut a groove and then slowly cut the wider groove. For most things I would laminate the groove or buy the track.
