OK, I know this isn't directly to do with Design, but this seems to be the most sensible place to put it.

I've not been using SU much lately, but I'm pretty sure that my mouse wheel used to Orbit when I clicked it. It was a very useful feature.

Having decorated my keyboard with a glass of red wine a couple of weeks ago, I now have a wireless keyboard, and I installed the wireless mouse that came with it.

The wheel-click no longer operates the Orbit. I'm not imagining that it used to do this, am I?

I've checked the mouse settings so that wheel-click is Middle-Click, but it makes no difference. Is there a setting somewhere ( there must be, I am sure) which enables this feature? I didn't realize how much I used it until I haven't got it any more!

Thanks very much.

A few more glasses of red wine and you won't care. ;)

Actually I think there was an issue with wireless mice and some of the functions. When I get to work I'll do a search on the SketchUp Pro forum and see what I can find. Or maybe it has been addressed on their FAQ page.

I'll get back to you.

Now that you have wireless input devices you need a 56" monitor on the wall. Then you can work from your recliner.

I've just been looking at the very same thread. We must have been on at the same time!

OK it seems I am not alone. If you have a Logitech mouse then a new driver will sort you out. I have a Microsoft Optical mouse 2.0, so I searched for a new driver for that, and for the wireless issues on the MSKB site. i guess this is a related issue:

Some button commands are missing after you install IntelliPoint 5.0

SYMPTOMS
When you assign commands to mouse buttons in the Mouse Control Panel, some commands are not in the list. For example, you cannot assign a keystroke to a mouse button.

CAUSE
The Microsoft IntelliPoint feature set was updated for version 5.0.

STATUS
This behavior is by design.

Don't you just love Microsoft.

I'm back with my tailed mouse and the SU world is rosy again. On the bright side, it seems my machine is quite happy with two mice installed, so I can use them both at the same time!

Thanks for searching, Dave

Well for anyone else with this problem...

There is a later driver than 5.0:

Here

Does it work? Yes. SOMETIMES! If I wheel-click often enough it kicks in, but it seems to be totally arbitrary! It's certainly not consistent. It's bizarre.

You'd think, with all the resources at their disposal, they could get a flippin' noddy mouse driver right, wouldn't you?

<Sigh>
