Sad to report that I have been the victim of burglary this week.
DWS780 was on a Dewalt leg stand, to which I had added wheels.
DWE74912 on a rolling stand. This has a hardwood zero clearance insert plate.
Trend T35a extractor.
Watch out for cheap tools in the Sussex area.

That's so wrong AjB, sad news. Are you covered?

Yes insurance in place so should be ok. Interestingly it's the the boxes of screws and fixings and bits and pieces that is causing me the biggest headache. When every day you reach for that little thing you need on a job and all of a sudden it's not in the box. In fact you don't even have the box haha!

Really sorry to hear.

It happened to me some years back with specialist audio and camera gear - you feel violated.

Make sure you list absolutely everything for the insurers. It's shocking how much small items add up to.

I'd hazard a guess that most of us have no real idea of the replacement cost of all those "bits and pieces" and so are more than likely to be under insured.

My friend was talking to guy who fixed his plant hydraulics who had had his van done, despite heavy duty locks etc. He said he'd put in an insurance claim for £15,000 thinking he'd covered everything, and that he might even make a grand or two. My friend next saw him again a couple of years later and he said he ended up three or four grand out of pocket, as some of the tools were so specialist it was eighteen months before he needed them and realised they were missing.

I agree with Lons it's those small things that we tend to forget about when taking out insurance.

Sadly the one thing we don't/cant insure against is the inconvenience of a theft, its not so bad as a hobbyist like myself but it must have a tremendous effect on those of you who rely on tools to make a living.
