Hi guys, I don't venture over here too often, but I hope you can help me out.

I turn three legged milking stools for family and friends as birthday/christening gifts, and find it a bit of a pain removing the chuck everytime I go from turning the tops to turning the legs with a drive centre. I use the Mega Jaws for turning these stools, as the chuck recess gives me a nice large area to burn in a little message for the recipient.

I notice that there's a version of the stebcentre that fits into the Nova chuck's standard jaws, but can someboby please confirm that this will also fit into the Mega Jaws.

I'll have a look for some pictures of the stools I've made if anybody's interested.

Cheers

Without pictures, it didn't happen, what stools?

I think you might be better emailing whoever distributes that chuck now. Is it Record?

Here'a a couple of pics of the milking stools I turn. The turning itself doesn't take too long, but the pyrography and painting take bloody ages. They keep me in beer though :D

Aled,

I have the steb center i think you refer to, it`s tapered with a straight round section half way up the shaft, so as long as your jaws have a circular section in the middle that closes down to about 3/4 dia, it should work.
I don`t know the chuck you refer to, but i can take a photo of the center & the nova chuck if that would help.

Hope that makes some sense, Miss vino verde has been entertaining me tonight.

Thanks Doug.

I'm not sure that we're talking about the same drive centre. The one I have in mind is a Steb Chuck which is designed to fit in a Nova chuck. In fact the blurb says that it should fit in most 4 jaw chucks, so I might just chance it and buy one.

I'm not sure how to link to a pic on a seperate website, but if you google "steb chuck" you'll see what I have in mind.

Cheers

Mornin' Aled.

The one you are looking for is the 'Steb Drive', the only problem with these is that they must protrude out passed the lip of the chuck jaws. Or the jaws must be wide enough when holding the 'Steb Drive' to allow the work to go in onto the drive teeth.

They do not work on the so called 'Nova Spigot jaws' or any similar, as the jaws come out too far and shield the drive area. the drive does not protrude very much. Best is to measure the height of jaws on your 'Mega jaws' and email the Toolpost, they are always helpful.

Steb Drive hope this is of some help.
