Stanley number 8; how long the Sole ?

On eBay a chap from Bolton is advertising one and gives 18 inches by 3 inches
The photo clearly shows No 8 on the stern and BAILEY at the front

Blood & Gore says it is 24 inches
Are Bailey dimensions usually different to Stanley ?

I have a nice Stanley 7 and fancy a No 8 for no particular reason

Yep that's a No 6.

I've measured my vintage No 8 and its 605mm x 80mm (just under 24" by 31/8").

When typing a post in the Full Editor you select (highlight) the text you want to make into a link - 'here' in this example; click the URL button; edit the opening URL tag to add an '=' sign and then insert (copy and paste works best) the link e.g. so that it reads '[url=http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13162.... etc. You can see the actual code if you click on Cordy's post using the 'quote' button.

Stanley make Bailey planes - they're the same brand. However, as the term Bailey is often used to describe the frog arrangement in planes by Stanley's competitors. But in this case it's a Stanley Bailey plane.
