I Have managed to get my hands on a mint LN 51 shooting plane and want to make a shooting board. It will be a near copy of the old Stanley 52. how ever I need some measurements, especially of the plane runway. Can anyone help ?

Making and Modifying Woodworking Tools by Jim Kingshott, pages 121 to 126 has information and some dimensions for making the plane and shooting board.

If you aren't locked solidly into an exact replica you could get the shooting board tracks and fence Lee Valley sells for shooting planes. If the LN 51 falls in the width range of the LV tracks you could put them to use and the fence will work if you do machine your own cast iron base.

Thanks John

I did a complete restoration of a #51/52 in 2007.

As Pete notes, Jim Kingshott is probably the only person I know who built a #52 from scratch. If I was doing this, I would also base one around the Veritas track. Lie Nielsen had one on the drawing board several years ago, but that did not reach production.
