If you don't mind, Kunz is actually making a copy of the stanley 79; you can buy a pair of blades from fine-tools.

If you have the plane for collecting it get one from forinstance Hans Brunner or try st. James Bay. If just for ordenary use get any of the no 79 alike planes from other makers. Or Make youre own, the no 79 are very easy to make from a piece of tool steel and a grinder.

Indeed. Even with new blades, you will spend much time grinding/honing to get them to work nicely. A #79 is quite an exercise in tuning.

Would you like dimensions, should you choose to make your own?

(note - I have successfully performed hardening and tempering on a gas hob - workshop not required)

Best to give him a ring - email replies take for ever!

Rod :)

I know a solicitor (country style - wears tweed, plays golf) who has his secretary print out emails, which he then dictates replies to on a dictaphone, which she (it had to be a she, didn't it) types in!!
