Stanley brass plane

Hello to everyone
I have this no 3 plane that in all aspects is a stanley plane only that the sole is made of brass.The blade is newer but apart from that I don't see any mismatch.
I suppose is a fan made plane, but let me know your opinion, please.

I'd assume that someone who cast bronze but not iron took a stanley casting and made a mould with it and then cast a sole in bronze/gunmetal.

That was quite a common thing to do, someone at a foundry could duplicate metal parts quite easily, the bronze might be a fraction smaller than the original, but you’d be pressed to notice that.

solid step up in aesthetics in my opinion - gunmetal/bronze always makes for a nice looking plane.

As all the other parts look genuine, I'd guess that someone dropped their plane and broke it. Having access to a foundry they had a new body cast in brass/bronze/gunmetal.

Over here (NZ) I've seen brass 'Stanley' planes where all the parts were copies. These usually date to WW2 where war shortages (think U-boats) meant new planes were hard to come by, and workers in large industries (railways, dockyard, etc.) had them cast and machined in house.

I have a brass/bronze/gunmetal Record No.71 router.
