stanley 78 rebate plane

had one of these for some time which i picked upoat a carboot sale. however itsa missing the fence guide. seen replacement guide kit on internet. would this fit an old one?

I would have thought so the new replicas do tend to have more slip in the machining / casting tolerances.

Being in the UK, you would be wise to curtail your interest in a Stanley, but look at the much more usable tool in the Woden W78. complete it has a front knob for better control and a double rod fence which is so much superior to the Stanley in terms of stability
