I have just acquired one of these.

A couple of the blades are missing. Does anyone know of any source for replacements.

I have checked LN and LV sites where the LV site offers some possibilities but is there anywhere else.

regards
Alan

The LV blades will work, though they are a little long. Alternatively, try St James Bay Tool Co. They make a large router which is similar to a #71, as well as a number of replacement parts, so may well have something.

(I have the large St James Bay router, but where practicable use the LV cutters because of ease of sharpening)

Hi,
BB I have heard of doing this but can't get my mind around the angles involved.

It is also a lot of metal to remove on a honing stone and there must be issues with trying to keep the blade at a steady angle.

I'll think somem ore about it I guess.
regards
Alan

Can use the tool itself as a jig when grinding the sole of the new Allen key bit. Install the blank in the router, attach a sprue under the leading edge square to the blank 'foot' with double sided tape and grind away.

One of the chaps has written up making bits from Allen keys, but can't find it off hand.

Allen - it's just a router blade, you don't need to worry too much about angles, as long as it's sharp it'll do the job.

I ground mine free hand. First I ground a 'flat' into the bottom of the hex key, then flipped it over and ground a bevel - this is done on a high speed bench grinder - you can't really do this on a waterstone it'll take you a year!

Once you have the flat and the bevel established, you can then hone and flatten on the waterstone as you would anything else - again i do this by hand, it's not overly tricky.
