Not sure how to repair this . The board was dropped and has lost a big chunk about 50mm x 6mm. The frame seems to be solid oak with a veneered honours board. Any thoughts and ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

I'd splice a piece of matching oak in, angled at the ends.

Like this, with shallower slopes at the ends: \_______/

To get a match you could cut that from the rear side and patch the cutout with a less good match from another piece of oak.
