Following the government's Freedom of Information Act you can now get access to speed camera offences registered in the last 12 months. Did you know that every time your car goes past a speed camera even 1 mph over the set limit it is registered and entered on a database?? You only get a ticket if you are way over the limit or (and this is the bit I didn't know) if you register over 20 near misses you will be classified as a serial offender and get a ticket the next time you go just over the limit.

This is why you hear of people being done for 34 mph in a 30 limit.

You can check what has already been registered against your vehicle (if
any) by going to

http://www.e-database.co.uk/

You are asked for a password but you just click on the "need a login" link and you will be given one that you can use any time in the future.

If there is any data on your vehicle you can click on the camera window to see a copy of the photograph, and this comes in handy if you want to challenge any of the charges .

Just tried it. Not very accurate, entered details for my last 3 cars and it gave me the same results for each car, in a part of the country i have never been too, and whats with those pictures?

Matt.

Detest the things...'er indoors job when we go anywhere to spot 'em, mind you, its a bit difficult to do any speeding in a proper Landrover.
My lad did a driving course at Trowbridge last year, and on the wall of the office they had pics of speed cameras from over the pond...the one I particulary remember was the one disguised as a green wheely bin - Rob

OK, OK, Hook line and sinker Roger. i just thought I would take a look as I do tend to have a heavy right foot but was surprised when I saw where it was! I was even more surprised by the outcome! Nice one mate.

Oooh...as in early Series? Do you know much about them? I fancy buying an old tax-exempt one for winter emergencies/collecting stuff that won't go in the car etc. I've been looking on Autotrader and there are quite a few come up but knowing my luck I'll get sold a pup

A friend pointed me in the direction of that site about two years ago, it made me laugh

No, this one is a new 90XS TD5. If you are after a Landy, in my view you are better going for a TD5 (5 cylinder BMW deisel) as the unit is superb.

You won't go anywhere fast in a Landy, but you will be able to go just about anywhere. Beware tho' of rot in the chasis, even though the bodywork is aluminium, all Landy's are very prone to chasis rot...except my one, and others like it, which has been specially treated...and they all leak in the wet weather - Rob

That's very nice, Rob 8)

Land Rover used to have an off-road demonstration course next to the motor museum at Gaydon, near Warwick (I presume it's still there). I had a demonstration and was very impressed with what the vehicle is capable of. Definitely the best 4x4 by far 8) 8)

Hi Paul - When I got mine last year, I did the free half day off road course with Landrover at Honiton in Devon. What a Landy will do off road has to be driven to be believed...scared the living daylights out of me. I was going up, using the low range box, what seemed like a one in one vertical wall and exclaimed in the venacular upon which the instructor calmly replied ..'no sir, its only mud' - Rob

I can quite believe it, Rob. I remember commenting to the demonstrator that the doors appeared to grip rather well

Paul

Not half  8-[ 8-[ 8-[

From inside the vehicle you are convinced that it's going to roll over, but when you see it from outside it's actually very safe.

Paul

Paul - when I mentioned earlier the 'vertical wall' this was only on the nursery slope. I had yet to traverse the big boys course at the top of the hill.... talk about 'shock and awe'.....wow   Rob
