Spear and Jackson Mermaid Saw - Trying to date the Marking on the Blade

Good Afternoon

I have really tried to date this saw. The handle I can find but the markings on the blade. I can't find a picture in any S and J catalogues that are available on line.

I would really appreciate any guidance where to look.

Thanks for the link. This is what i get on the emblem but i cant see when emblem 1st used and last used. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like it’s had a lot of use, and been sharpened to the extent (how close the heal is to the handle) I’m guessing the toe is almost at a point. At this stage they were often converted into floor board saws.

Probably an '88' from 1910 to 1915.

The 'Mermaid' brand was introduced in the 1910 catalogue, with 'Silver Steel' claim.

'Double Mermaid, 171' was introduced in 1915, with 'Vanadium Steel' claim in the etching.

'Non-break Handle' - which this saw doesn't appear to have - was patented in 1932
