Just picked up some screws today from Axminster I normally use Spax or Riesser screws but thought I would give the special Spax MDF ones a go.

Does anyone else here use them just wondering if you need to pilot drill etc like you usually do when fixing 18 mm mdf together or can you just wizz em in.

I got them from Axminster at High Wycombe WOW what a place that is, I had to go up to Oxford this morning so thought I'd pop in there on the way back. All I bought were the screws but looking around I could have spent a fortune

I live about 4 miles from High Wycombe and have to resist.

I went in there last week intending to spend £15 and somehow I managed to put £91 on my credit card.

Dreadful place

I have used these recently - I did drill a fine pilot hole to be on the safe side; I don't think this was really necessary, but it probably helps with locating the screw.

The thread is quite fine so you do not want to be too aggressive screwing it over tight or it can rip out when fixing in the end of mdf

cheers

I will try em out in the morning im in the middle of a wardrobe job I dont think I need to worry too much about splitting as I have housed the shelves in to the sides.

Oh dear it's payday on Friday and I was planning a trip up the HW branch for a look around... this is not going to be good for my wallet!
