I have a Clarke drill press which has served me well for numerous years, and is more than adequate for the little use it gets in my shop. The problem is the spring that holds the drill up is broken.

It's a small round enclosure with a wound up spring inside it bolted to the side of the drill. Does anyone know where on the net I might find a replacement part from? Other than that the drill is great considering what I paid for it.

Cheers,

Martin.

I repaired one of these some time ago it had a bent shaft. I think I contacted machinemart probably by telephone at the time, they were able to provide all the required spares. Hopefully they still can. I have had one of those springs break on my Record. Is it broken close to the end of the coil? if so it may be possible to bend a new end on it, all it means is that the return spring will have a little more "spring" return force, apossible temporary fix anyway .

Cheers Alan

I recognise that phone code. There is a Clarke spares centre behind the Machine Mart in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton London.

Been there more than a few times. Only once actually came away with the part I needed. they have some great diagrams for identifying the part. Shame they are all 'give us your phone number and we'll call you if one comes in'.
