I've managed to lose one of the screws from my CL2000 chuck, and looking to replace (and get spares!) and while £9 seems ok for a set, the postage of £7 is ridiculous. Anyone suggest alternative sources than Record or Axminster pls? Surely these are standard hex screws?
Thanks

which chuck is it? is it the RP2000?

if so, I have the same issue, that I need a set because the heads on mine are worn and sooner or later I am going to round the heads. They seem to be a non-standard head size. it was suggested getting something standard and shaping them with a file, but I haven't done that yet. I was planning to get some at a show, but then covid happened and the shows were cancelled.

Yes, RP, sorry

Are we speaking of countersunk head screws? If so get standard HT screws of the correct size from ebay, put them in a battery drill and spin the rim on a moving grindstone for a minute - it reduces the diameter enough without affecting anything.

As Phil says, metal lathe is gold star but battery drill and file is plenty good enough.

Just a thought.

I used to grumble about delivery charges, but then it struck me that it takes me and hour to get to Screwfix and back from where I live, and uses about £3.50 worth of fuel. The nearest specialist nut and bolt place is further and have to pay for public car park unless you are dead lucky. So - delivery can be a bit of a bargain - I use it a lot more these days. The £7 is probably a standard charge for small items, you could order 4 or 40 screws, and covers postage, packing, handling, admin. If you could go pick them up it might cost you as much.

Tried our local (very good) store but no joy. However, I have ordered some online today ... watch this space; I will report back.
Thanks

I post off some of my work so know that actually the cost of the postage for these would be less than £1, so maybe being picky .. but ...
Living out in the sticks means our local hardware/building suppliers are stock most things and I try to use them whenever I can, and I can incorporate them into a dog walk.
