Good to see you experimenting with something different JT, looks like it had it's interesting moments with those fault lines.

Must confess having spent several days now range shooting a .357 Magnum S & W it did lend itself to 'other uses"

You definitely think the same way as me JT. Have the same source of wood as well  I have a lump of oak that I was looking at to do something along these lines. Maybe we need another competion, the piece with the most holes / splits / knot / bark inclusions

Seriously. Love this, right up my street and only a little envious....honest
Pete

stunning JT, love it, but then again i cant think of anything of yours i dont like, keep up the good work.
great piece of wood too, lovely colour and detail.

Thanks chaps :D .

Paul, I had a 'the back should be the front' moment but now I think its simply reversable

My Mrs handled it pretty well, it's me that had the problems. Mind you I am beginning to get my own back now.

Nice piece, i like how the beads ripple out as though the bowl had been dropped into water.

I also like the reversible angle :D , although i have to agree i'd have gone with the bowl on the other side myself. but a bit late now though!

The niceness of the back was uncovered during turning, that is to say the screwchuck was already screwed in to the other side that became the bowl part and it was therefore too late before I had even seen what would become the back(had I have known what was inside I would have put the bowl that side!!!)...... I'm still not dissapointed though the front came out exactly as I wanted , it just has a nice colourful back to it

If in doubt about 'side' in future johnny, try prepping enough surface for a Glue Block for the screw chuck, gives just a few more options for 'design' tweaks as you proceed.
