Some lovely scrollwork

Went to Woodworks at the Forest of Marston Vale http://marstonvale.org/woodworks/# this weekend which we really enjoyed. Plenty of crafts people doing all sorts of woodwork plus timber, new and second-hand tools. Splashed out 50p on a piece of green Ash for the legs of a stool but otherwise just watched and admired.

There was some beautiful scrollwork by Fiona Kingdon which is well illustrated on her website http://www.fionakingdon.co.uk/. She uses a Hegner scrollsaw which is mounted on a ramped worktop because she cuts for 8 hours a day and finds the angled machine is much easier to use for long periods. Has anybody else got their scrollsaw mounted on a slope?

I have mine at a slight angle but not a big slope, make it easier to see what your cutting..

Thanks Steve, I'll give this a try. I currently mount the scrollsaw on a Workmate and stand to do the cutting but I would like to make a bench with a seat as I'm not getting any younger :lol: . I'll try a slope of maybe 10 or 15 degrees.

I have the rear end of my saw up 2", I find it a lot easier to work but I keep on thinking I might try different heights but haven't done yet.

its actually not that difficult to cut Chaz, you only need a few basic rules and your away, the trouble comes when you try and go too fast for yourself and end up making a mess, rather like turning..
