I'm in the middle of making a drawer unit, which will have 3 drawers in it. The drawers will be drawer boxes, with a false front screwed on made of solid oak. The height (as you look at them) of each front will be approx 10". I think I will need to joint the oak to stop potential problems of movement etc, but what is the maximum width you should use as a solid "plank". ie is 10" too wide a piece to use or would you use two 5" pieces joined with biscuits

With it screwed to a drawbox you should not get much cupping provided its dry and treated the same on both sides (finish)

You will get the same amount of movement in the width wether its one 10" board or ten 1" boards glued tegether. Aim to get as close to quater sawn as possible as the wood move sless when cut that way.
