I have my Axminster Hobby 10" bandsaw for sale - I live in Hampshire.

*** Updated to include three photos, price and additional info about the transferable warranty ***

I bought it new direct from Axminster on 26 April 2018 and it's covered by the transferable Axminster 3 year warranty (I have the receipt - see below).

It's equivalent to the 2nd model up in the Craft range (the most popular model Axminster sell) that replaced the Hobby range e.g. the size is comparable to all 10" wheel bandsaws.

Here's a link to the product manual - it's identical to the pictures in the manual:

https://www.axminster.co.uk/media/downl ... manual.pdf

When comparing Hobby products to the Craft range, there are a few plus points for the HBS250N:

It has complete support for the blade e.g. two side bearings and a thrust bearing above and also below the table. The AC1950B bandsaw "only" has upper and lower ceramic side and thrust blade guides whereas the HBS250N has "proper" bearings e.g. like the Axminster Trade range or Jet range etc.

It has a full Axminster cabinet rather than just a set of legs. I haven't used the cabinet for storage - only to raise the bandsaw to a working height, but (like the frame) it's pretty sturdy too.

I have two mitre fences - there is the one (black) supplied with the product (not great) and the Hobby replacement version (gun metal) (that's much improved).

It has a new 1/2" x 4tpi Axminster blade ( bought last week) and a 2nd bagged up 1/2" x 4tpi new blade (same).

The depth of cut is "listed" as 120mm (however like all bandsaws) it's best to view this as a guide e.g. usable at 3/4 this spec e.g. up to about 100mm for cutting bowl blanks etc. but with a low tpi blade it will cut at the full capacity.

Price £220 includes two new blades and replacement Axminster Hobby mitre fence (see photos).
Axminster warranty is up to 25 April 2021.
Buyer collection only (Hampshire).

PM if you are interested.
Kind regards
Simon

Note from the manual
The Guarantee is transferable from owner to owner in the first three years but you must have original proof of purchase. Should we need to replace a machine in the first three years the guarantee will still continue to be effective from the original purchase date.

Confirmation email for three year warranty (up to 25 April 2021)
Good morning. Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the sale of your Axminster machine. I have spoke to the customer service team regarding this and they have informed me that the remainder of your warranty is transferable to the new owner when you sell the machine. The new owner will need a copy of the purchase receipt. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Kind regards (GN) Specialist Sales Advisor

I don't have a fixed price.

it should (within reason) be determined by what you think its value is.

PM and we can discuss a value.

Kind regards
Simon

FYI, the below is one of the rules for this for sale forum...

“8 –Pricing.
No posting of For Sale items without a fixed price. Posts without a price will simply be deleted without warning or notification, as will any For Sale posts that are framed as an auction or masquerading as an auction of any description. "Best price" or "best offer" etc. or words or phrases to that effect will be treated as an auction and deleted.”

I take your point but I don't have an exact price in mind. It's not an auction and you will almost certainly be able to buy at a price that's agreeable. FWIW I do find it difficult to come up with a price since most sellers over estimate the value and buyers the opposite.

But they are the rules of the for sale posting, so don’t be surprised if it gets removed.

If you really can’t decide on a price then use eBay to sell or to look at the sold prices.

A general 'rule of thumb' as a starting point in selling second hand equipment in good condition is two thirds full retail - Rob

I received feedback (an email) from Axminster about transferring the warranty which is available until 25 April 2021 and copied this information.

The bandsaw “went shopping” last week. I was visiting my nearest Axminster store and put the bandsaw in the car so that it could receive a service/setup. The store spent over an hour with their bandsaw specialist getting it just perfect and my experience with them is nothing is too much trouble. The blade on it was renewed and I bought a 2nd one for goodwill rather than immediate necessity. With hindsight, having it checked out and setup before you leave the store e.g. when buying new would be a big help because setup is a big part in getting it right. Having new blades is like having new tyres on a car because they are consumables.

They also have roller sets (£40-£70) for upgrades to other bandsaws and the reviews say that they aren’t difficult to fit. The pictures are however better than the ones in the manual for showing what you get but the parts are near enough identical as they are from the previous range. The bandsaw I wanted to buy was out of stock but overall the visit was worthwhile.

I edited the original post to keep all the information together in one place (add price, info and some photos).

Shame you are so far away from me would have this in a jiffy!
Good luck with the sale.
