Hi , Just carious as to who got what at the show this weekend :?:

I purchased 4 Sorby tool rests

3 Sorby tear drop cutters

Ah, you got it loaded in the end then Alan 8) They're great machines, I'm sure it'll serve you very well.

Treated myself to one of those funky Bessey folding utility knives, and got a rather good deal from Turners Retreat on a pair of Clifton spokeshaves, both of which I'd promised myself a while ago now.

A bit disappointed with Tom, who not only spent nothing but failed completely to honour his agreement not to let me spend money. :roll: :wink:

Allen got a very very good deal on his JPT-260. :mrgreen: It was nice to meet Nick (Jetman) on the Jet stand, lovely fellow.

Despite the negative comments, I quite enjoyed this year. Admittedly there was fewer exhibitors there. I noticed that DeWalt wasn't present at all which I found odd. There was much less demo's this year too. I normally like to see the guy who does the carving demos but he wasn't there.

Was good to meet and have a quick chat with Mark Hancock on the way out.

I just wish I'd had some money :roll: :lol:

Here are the spoils of the day

Ebony and African black wood, 3 grades of super glue, 2 pot pourri lids, a long drill for doing all wood pens, a couple of small turning tools and some small ferrules

I delved into those cheep-and-cheerful tool stands -- like at a car boot sale.

Got a few router cutters for £1 each in sizes I didn't have for the odd one-off cut that doesn't justify an expensive cutter. Will see!

Got some Titebond glue for the first time so will check that out too. 8)

All in all, spent £7.50 to get in to spend a few quid more. Hmm.

That's a good point actually. What did you get for your entrance fee this year? Not a lot IMHO. I don't normally mind because you get to see at least a couple of good demos. Watching those students make a Bus Stop wasn't what I'd call inspiring and the power tool racing was just bloody stupid.

I think by the time we had been haggled so far into the ground we ended up paying Blister :shock:

I ordered a Record TS200C table saw, show price £529.99 with free carriage, due to be delivered next Thursday.

I also bought 4 Fein saw blades, 2 Standard and 2 Precision for £10.00 each (normal ? price c £15-£20 each).

Thanks for your concern, I have researched extensively and I am aware yourself and another forum member don't think much of it, however I had a really good look at it at the exhibition and saw it in action as the students from one of the challenges was using it to cut some 65mm softwood. It coped fine with that (as it should).

It ticks all the boxes for me and there is really nothing else on the market that has everything I want and, most importantly, will fit in my small workshop without me having to climb over it all the time.

If anyone is interested I would be happy to post my experiences with it when I get it.

I'll be very interested in how you get on with it. I'm going back to looking for a compact TS in the future and I agree that the only downside of the little Axi is the blade size. That said, for the price difference alone, I could live with it.

Yes, there is a considerable price difference and I did have to think about it, but I just know that when I came to cut a piece of timber thicker than 60mm (although this probably won't be very often) and found I couldn't it would really niggle.
I know I could get round it but it would still annoy me, so I have gone for the more expensive saw.

Will post my experiences with the Record once I have used it a bit.
